Editor's Note: The following press release comes from the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife, and although it mostly cautions New Jersey anglers to understand that a Delaware saltwater fishing license is now required if they venture into Delaware waters on the river, the same holds true for Delaware Bay. So if you fish the bay from New Jersey, be aware that if you cross into Delaware waters on the bay, you are required to have a Delaware saltwater fishing license. The shipping channel marks the line between New Jersey and Delaware on the bay. No saltwater fishing license is required in New Jersey waters. Here's the release: 

A Delaware fishing license is now required for anglers aged 16 and over fishing the Delaware Bay and Delaware River between the upstream tip of Artificial Island and the Delaware-Pennsylvania state line. In that section of the river, the Delaware state boundary extends to the New Jersey shoreline. When fishing from shore in New Jersey along that section of the river, a Delaware fishing license is not required.
