| AOK Tackle Company's T-Hex Metal Lures |
|||||
Steve Adams, founder of A.O.K. Tackle Company, says it didn’t take him long after starting to surf fish to realize that most lures and rigs on the market were, “well, not of the best quality, to put it kindly.” Some of the metal lures “were just plain cheap,” he says. Once the plating started chipping off, the lure would corrode and then fall apart quickly. |

He began making his own. Then demand from his friends prompted him to start his own business, offering the lures and other tackle to the public. The T-Hex is a metal lure with a long, hexagonal shape meant to catch and reflect more light. It’s built to impart great action, and can imitate many East Coast bait fish, including sand eels, spearing, rainfish, finger mullet and peanut bunker. It can be cast, jigged or trolled, and fished from the beach, jetties or a boat. |

The T-Hex catches stripers, bluefish, weakfish, fluke, Spanish mackerel, bonito and false albacore from Cape Cod to Cape Hatteras. It tricks freshwater fish including salmon, pike, muskies and trout. Made from marine-grade brass with a nickel/chrome finish, the T-Hex features a set of recessed, prismatic, 3-D eyes. Its Mustad O’Shaughnessy Hook, the SW Superior Point model, is dressed with bucktail and pearl flash. Heavy-duty, stainless-steel split rings are included for attaching the hook and the line. Sizes include the 1-ounce, 2 ounce and 3-ounce, and also the new, 1-½-ounce T-Hex Stubby, with a short length. A.O.K. Tackle also offers bait rigs, such as rigs for fishing clams for stripers, hooks dressed with bucktail and other material, and terminal tackle, such as fish-finder slides.
