Friday, June 20: Awesome bluefishing today aboard the Sea Devil and we were never more than six miles from home. All fish were caught on jigs and averaged about eight pounds. The big bluefish weighed about twelve pounds. The most exciting part of the day began when Dave (Cheesehead) Carlstrom, Bancroft, WI, hooked into a big fish and it left him unable to turn the reel for a short while. Mike stepped up to assist and determined that Dave had a big striper on his line. It took some coaching and determination and finally Dave got the big fish on the boat. His striper catch measured 44 inches and weighed about thirty-six pounds! Other highlights include: Tim Clark, Toms River, Jim Yenser, Birdsboro, PA , John and 'Cheesehead' each had a dozen blues or more. Sixteen-year-old John Janda, his dad Bill, Birdsboro, PA, and Uncle Chris Janda, Wilmington, DE, had about ten fish apiece. Chiu and Sam Chau, Edison, were out for the first time bluenfishing and had quite a few blues! They could only comment how it was so much more fun than catching a fluke! It was a great day all around with beautiful weather and calm seas. We look for more great fishing tomorrow! www.seadevilfishing.com
