From an email from the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife:

A section of beach in Island Beach State Park (from) south of the A23 entrance to the (Barnegat Inlet) jetty will temporarily be closed to vehicle traffic beginning Thursday, June 30.

The closure is to protect nesting piping plovers, a state Endangered and federally Threatened Species.
