New Jersey is proposing to require brook trout to be limited to catch-and-release in the few waters that harbor native brookies in the state.

That's because the state has determined that the population of the fish is in danger.

From an email from the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife on Oct. 2:

The Fish and Game Council and New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife are proposing amendments to the 2018-19 Fish Code.

There are several important proposed changes to trout regulations as well as general fishing regulations.
