Fluke Regulations Public Press Conference
Friday, 1/27/2017

There will be a public press conference at 10:00 AM at Fishermen's Supply, 69 Channel Drive, Point Pleasant Beach 08742, at which DEP Commissioner Bob Martin will announce the States's opposition to the draconian catch reductions proposed in the 2017 summer flounder quota. Commissioner Martin has stated the reductions amount
to:

"a defacto moratorium on summer flounder for the recreational fishing industry in New Jersey" He further states that it "threatens to jeopardize businesses such as bait and tackle shops and party and charter boats that cater to recreational anglers. The recreational fishing industry, which provides more than $1.5 billion economic benefits and directly supports 20,000 jobs in New Jersey, would be devastated."

JCAA is very pleased with the States' support in rejecting this proposal. We need as many anglers as possible to show up in support of Commission Martin and to demonstrate to our legislators how important this fishery is.

LET THE VOICE OF THE RECREATIONAL FISHING COMMUNITY BE HEARD

                          SAVE THE SUMMER FLOUNDER FISHERY

About Jersey Coast Anglers Association

The Jersey Coast Anglers Association is a non-profit organization formed in 1981. The original objective of the JCAA was to combine a loosely fragmented group of marine sportfishing clubs in order to form and promote a united consensus on issues relevant to saltwater anglers in New Jersey. Over the years, the mission of the JCAA has remained unchanged, but now has the added goal of joining forces with organizations having similar objectives in states along the East Coast and national organizations. While the JCAA is relatively young, it has emerged as the most effective organization of its kind on the East Coast. For more information, or for information about becoming a member of the JCAA, please call (732) 506-6565 or visit www.jcaa.org.
