Editor's note: The striper bonus program allows an angler to apply for a permit to bag an extra striper 24 inches to less than 28 in New Jersey.

From an email from the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife on Sept. 1:

The Striped Bass Bonus Program (SBBP) is now open. 

Applications are available on the SBBP webpage and must be submitted before Oct. 31. 

All permits issued in 2016 are not valid in 2017.

Reporting bonus harvest within 24 hours is mandatory.
