An email from the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife:

The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (MAFMC) and Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission are initiating development of an amendment to the Bluefish Fishery Management Plan (FMP).

You are encouraged to submit comments regarding the range of potential issues to be addressed in the amendment.

Issues currently under consideration include potential revision of the allocation between the recreational and commercial sectors (currently 83% / 17%).

In addition, transfers from the recreational to commercial sector have occurred in every year since 2001, inclusive, and management questions under consideration include: Are the existing transfer processes appropriate for managing the bluefish fishery?
