Berkley's
Hotwire Superline Cutter

So-called superlines
are certainly super.

The braided lines
are stronger than mono-filament, in addition to being more sensitive
and thinner.

But that also means something super is required to cut them.

Run-of-the mill fishing knives, nail clippers or mono-line clippers either won’t cut it—no pun intended—or fail to neatly slice the end.

Berkley’s Hotwire Superline Cutter was made for the job.

The cutter—part of the company’s TEC Tools, or its “technically advanced” line of fishing equipment—cuts braid better than a knife or other cutters do, Berkley says.

Not only does the Hotwire slice through braid, but it eliminates fraying.

A tungsten tip instantly heats the line up to 1,200 degrees,
cauterizing the slice.

The tip is replaceable and retracts for safety.

The heating element can also be used to repair soft-plastic lures, welding torn parts.

An LED light is included on the cutter for use in the dark.

The tool is powered by two AA batteries or a single CR-1216 battery.
