Esca

The mysteries of the sea
are surely part of the reason we fish.

The more we learn about
the water, the more we’re satisfied when fishing, and there’s no end to the things to learn.

Not to mention that the more we learn how actually to catch,
the more satisfying the fishing!

The company Esca learned something great about catching.

Esca’s founder discovered that
if he could imitate the light that
some forage in the sea emitted, he could catch a lot more fish.

So he went to work and invented Esca, a light-emitting device
that can be attached to lures
and fishing rigs or fished as a lure itself.

Esca generates light on its own, using no batteries, when submersed
in saltwater, deactivating when out of the water.

It comes in blue or green in slow blink or rapid blink in both colors.

Blue is recommended for clearer and/or deeper waters, and green
is more suitable for murkier and/or shallower waters.

With a lifetime of at least 100 hours, Esca tolerates depths down to 1,000 meters.

Esca can be clipped on lures or rigs in a variety of ways or used as a jig.

The company also makes rubber squid and shrimp that can be fished with an Esca inside.

Esca’s founder decided to make the product when he got the idea on vacation in the South Pacific. He saw the natives fishing with the light-emitting organs of fish and squid like they’d been doing for generations.

He thought about all the marine fish and forage like krill, squid and shrimp that emit such bioluminescence.

He also thought about the anglerfish, named because it lures in other fish to eat with a light-emitting sort of finger protruding from its forehead, called the “esca."

What did he learn from all of this? He found that his Esca caught fish!
