OTB Boots

The U.S. Navy Seals -- highly specialized, toughest-of-the-tough
military -- are elite soldiers.

Besides their weapons, their footwear is arguably their most
important equipment.

Navy Seals don’t mess around with their shoes.

The Seals, an acronym for sea, air and land, asked footwear
specialists from OTB Boots to design shoes for use around water,
the company says.

A line of boots named Over the Beach, the company’s namesake,
was born.

OTB now produces the boots and other footwear for boating and
the outdoors.

High-tech materials and cutting-edge manufacturing are used with the goal of making the best in the field, OTB says.

The company offers several models of shoes and boots for use around the water, including boating, fishing, hunting and diving.

Here’s a peak at two.

Poseidon

The Poseidon is an athletic boat shoe that looks and feels like a sneaker, built with technology developed when OTB engineered footwear for the Navy Seals.

The razor-siped, rubber, somewhat lugged sole creates traction and silence on both wet and dry surfaces.

Razor siping --
slicing in the sole
that channels out water when flexed --helps prevent
hydroplaning.

Holes in the sole allow water to drain, and so does special mesh sandwiched between the sole and the upper.

Mesh along the body of the upper breathes like a running shoe.

A recessed arch helps identify the wearer’s center of gravity when climbing ladders or steps.

The Poseidon is white and Navy and comes in sizes 7 to 13.

Abyss

The Abyss is a boot
meant for wet conditions including wading or in
mud and helps with support like along rocks around water. The boot also works great with waders.

The razor-siped, lugged, rubber sole creates traction and silence on both wet and dry surfaces.

The rubber reinforced toe and heel help with climbing.

Small holes in the sole drain water, and special mesh between the sole and the upper prevents small stones and debris from entering but also helps drain water.

Mesh along the body of the upper allows draining, breathability and quick drying for foot health.

The rest of the upper is made from a high-abrasion material that resists scuffs and far outlasts leather, the company says. The material is treated with Durable Water Repellant that reportedly allows minimal water absorption.

A recessed arch helps identify the wearer’s center of gravity when climbing ladders.

A mesh tongue pocket holds tied laces in place to prevent snagging.

The Abyss is available in black or green and comes in sizes 7 to 14.

See the OTB web site for more features of the Abyss.

The company also makes boating shoes named the Keeper, similar to a traditional leather boat shoe but especially breathable; the Tide, a low-cut shoe when ankle support is no issue; the Leader, a slip-on shoe; and the Harbor with styling meant to look great from boat to office.

OTB also produces other lines of footwear for water and land.
