Rubber Slinger Rod

Catching bonito and false albacore, the speedy pelagic fish,
is a great experience.

But casting weightless, soft-plastic lures to them hasn’t always been.

How are you supposed to throw them on a rod?

By using the right rod.

Aubut, the rod manufacturer, produces the Rubber Slinger Rod, designed to fish weightless soft-plastics to bonito and albies.

The 8-foot 2-inch spinning rod is designed to load perfectly to sling the baits in efficient, long casts, the company says.

The fast-action, medium-powered pole is meant to be fished with 8- to 15-pound, braided line on 2500 to 4000 reels.

It comes with Fuji K Series guides and a Fuji reel seat, and can be ordered with either cork or Eva grips.

Capt. Chris Aubut founded the Falmouth, Massachusetts, company in 2011.

He was born and raised on the water in Massachusetts, and guided fishing charters, hundreds, from there and the Florida Keys for 15 years.

Chris says he began building rods when off-the-shelf poles wore out too quickly aboard.

He started building poles with the highest-quality components, like the company does today, he says.

Chris has been mentioned in many magazine articles and featured on ESPN and the New England Sports Network, and was on the cover of Sportfishing Magazine, according to the company.

The Rubber Slinger can also work great to fish soft-plastics when striped bass are krilling, he says.
