Lowrance Outboard Autopilot | ||||
Isn’t it great when large boats have autopilot? Wouldn’t it be great They can. Lowrance’s Outboard Autopilot is built for boats 30 feet or smaller Made for boats with single-outboard engines, the autopilot works with either hydraulic steering or cable steering. The autopilot also works with an electric trolling motor, the MotorGuide Xi5, a wireless. The autopilot can be switched between the outboard and the trolling motor with the push of a button. Autopilot, of course, steers the boat automatically, so you can sail without hands on the steering wheel, freeing you up to do things like set up the fishing tackle. The Outboard Autopilot can steer to a selected waypoint or heading It can steer the boat along a route saved with a touch of a button, so the boater can retrace a route. It can also be set to “make turns” like a zigzag, a circle and other patterns, like for trolling. The screen for the autopilot is Lowrance’s HDS Gen2 or HDS Gen2 Touch, a touch-screen. In other words, you buy the autopilot and either of the Gen2’s separately, or maybe you already have a Gen2 installed on your vessel. A Gen2 is a screen meant to display multiple electronics, like a chart-plotter, fish-finder or the autopilot. Using one screen for all saves space. The autopilot includes the Point-1 GPS Antenna that provides extremely accurate headings and boat position, Lowrance says. The autopilot is made to be easy for the buyer to install, right out of the box, the company says, and includes all the required parts. Watch a video on the Outboard Autopilot.
