Pivot Frog

The hook-up is the tough part about frogging for largemouth bass.

Actually, that’s besides factors like buying the right frog, fishing at the right place and right time, learning how to work the frog, and having some luck.

After all of that, you don’t want the bass to smash the lure, and fail to be hooked.

Sebile, the lure-maker, is introducing the Pivot Frog that addresses this.

The soft, hollow-bodied frog features a single hook that pivots both toward and away from the body, “optimizing snag-free fishing, and increasing hook-up ratio,” the company says.

Watch a video and see.

That's unlike the double hooks on many frogs.

The Pivot Frog focuses hook-setting on one hook, increasing the hook-up and landing ratio, Sebile says.

The frog, available in different colors, moves in a walk-the-dog action.

The company’s founder, Patrick Sebile, spent two years developing the lure, he said.

The Pivot Frog, part of the company's Action First line of lures – “proven to bring the action – action first,” it says – is being introduced at the annual ICAST convention next week, the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades.

The convention is known for its awards for the year’s best new fishing products.

Sebile has sometimes won the awards for its lures.

Maybe the Pivot Frog will this year.

At press time, the Pivot Frog was yet to be included on Sebile’s website.
