Elite Series Jig Heads

The hook
is arguably the
most important
part of a jig head.

A jig head,
after all, is simply
a hook with a weighted
head, usually lead, in different shapes and colors, with maybe other features, like eyes.

So if Mustad,
the tackle company most known for hooks,
develops a series of the lures, that’s noticeable.

Mustad has introduced the Elite Series Jig Heads.

The series features many different models for freshwater and saltwater, including ball jigs, football heads, shad darters, shrimp jig heads, inshore darters, steelhead balls, stand up heads, tube jig heads, wacky jig heads, walleye jig heads and yellowtail heads.

Each of those comes in different sizes and colors.

All the hooks
feature UltraPoint Technology, making
them “so sharp and
more durable than
any other,” Mustad says.

What’s more,
each of the hooks
use UtraPoint 4.3 Technology.

Making the sharpest point can make the point weak, because grinding and chemical sharpening removes metal from the point.

With these hooks, the point is 4.3 times the wire diameter, the optimum ratio for sharpness, the company says.

All of this makes the hooks extremely sharp, and, because more of the metal remains, the point is considerably stronger and less likely to “roll over” and become dull,  it says.

Mustad spent 18 months developing these “100 percent unique jig heads,” the company says.
