Penn International Reels

Some decisions are big.

Like are you going to get a gold wedding ring or platinum?

Here’s a big decision for anglers.

Are you going to get the new silver Penn International or the old gold one?

You can make that decision, because Penn earlier this year announced that the silver would be available, and now the color is arriving at stores.

The previous gold color, classic, is still available.

Penn Internationals are the best big-game reels.

That might seem a bold statement to somebody.

But Internationals just are.

The silver reel, machined in Philadelphia like the gold reel is, is available in all the same models as the gold.

The models are the V, which is the basic, if an International can be called basic, though it really can’t; the VS, built for large line capacity for monofilament; and the VSX, built for braided line and the extreme drag used for braid.

The silver reels range from $529.95 to $1,299.95.

You'll probably keep an International for life.

Buying one is no commitment like marriage, but is a substantial fishing step.

Why is the new color a big deal?

That's why.
