Inception Reel

The company
13 Fishing was
fast-rising several years ago.

It became especially known for making casting reels that are beautiful, ergonomic and lightweight.

The company’s Inception reel is the latest and hit the market early this year.

Previously, the company’s casting reels were all several models that are part of a line called Concept reels.

The Inception is more affordable, retailing for $120.

Yet Inception includes many features that the more expensive models do.

Inception is low-profile and lightweight.

But the reel provides up to 18 pounds of drag, an amount that can crank a catch like a big largemouth bass out of weeds.

The drag is made from oversized washers in multiple materials.

The reel, with eight bearings, features an aluminum frame and graphite side plates that keep the weight down.

It comes with Eva foam handles, instead of cork handles the company became known for on most of its other casting reels.

The Eva handles are comfortable and oversized and also keep the weight down.

A centrifugal drag is controlled by removing one of the side plates, simple to do, and choosing a setting from one to six for lighter resistance to heavier for casting.

Inception comes in two models: the 6:6:1 that retrieves 25.1 inches of line per turn of the handle, and the 8:1:1 that retrieves 32 inches per turn, a high-speed model.

Both have a line capacity of 135 yards of 12-pound line, a good amount for a low-profile reel.

Inception can be used in freshwater and salt, but is meant for largemouth bass, really.
