Berkley Hardbaits
and Fusion19 Hooks

Berkley Hardbaits, hard-plastic lures
for largemouth
bass fishing, were introduced last summer, but are being billed as new for 2016, and are arriving at stores now.

They were
introduced at the annual International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades, the world’s largest tackle convention, in July.

Berkley is also introducing a line of largemouth hooks, the Fusion19 Hooks.

The lures were four years in the making, Berkley says.

The process included steps like creating a facility to manufacture the lures that rivals any high-tech facility like it in the world, the company says.

Berkley partnered with David Fritts, the crankbait legend, the company says, to design the lures.

The goal was to create hard lures that delivered better action and looks for more bites.

The lures come in six models, 11 sizes and 12 colors.

The models are the Bad Shad; the Cutter; the Digger, shown in the photo at left; the Pitbull; the Warpig; and the Wild Thang.

See a photo of all the models at the bottom of the page.

Details: the Bad Shad is a floating shad imitation that rises on the pause; the Cutter is a suspending jerkbait; the Digger is a crankbait with aggressive wobble; the Pitbull is a crankbait with an erratic tail wag; the Warpig is a crankbait easy to use and versatile; and the Wild Thang is a deeper-running crankbait with a violent, tail-thumping action.

What’s more, $6.95 to $7.95 is the manufacturer's suggested retail price, an economical one.

The lures feature Berkley Fusion19 treble hooks, carrying the same name as the company’s new line of largemouth hooks.

The new line of Fusion19 Hooks come in nine models: the Extra-Wide Gap, the Superline Extra-Wide Gap, the Weedless Extra-Wide Gap, the Weighted Extra-Wide Gap, the Offset Worm, the Dropshot, the Heavy Cover, the Swimbait and the Weighted Swimbait.

Those are some of the models in the photos.

The different models were created to be versatile.

The hooks were designed to be sharper than any others and to stay sharper longer than any others, withstanding the toughest cover.

A technologically-advanced polymer coating, the company says, called Slickset, is meant to do that.

The hooks come in a smoke-satin finish and are sold in a re-sealable package.

The MSRP is $3.99 to $5.99 in counts of four to eight hooks per package.
