LiveTarget Swimbaits

LiveTarget, like its name suggests, became known for realistic lures.

Those were lures that very much looked like a live baitfish or other forage.

Those were mostly hard plastic.

But this year the company has introduced soft-plastic swim baits.

The LiveTarget Swimbait Series includes baits for saltwater and fresh.

The saltwater models are a mullet, pinfish and sardine.

The freshwater are a threadfin shad, gizzard shad, herring, trout parr, trout adult, golden shiner and yellow perch.

They come in different sizes from 3 ½ to 7 ½ inches and are $9.99 to $18.49.

A main feature is that the baits come rigged so that they swim straight and true out of the package.

Hook placement and weighting are correct.

The rigging also ensures the best action and best snag resistance.

The “oscillator” tail generates species-specific, life-like swimming action, LiveTarget says.

An eye or pin at the bottom of each bait enables anglers to customize the lure with an additional hook or willow-leaf blades.

Every time LiveTarget builds a new lure, it first carefully analyzes the natural bait, the company says.

The goal is to produce the most lifelike and durable imitation.
