Monster Reel 'N Shad

Big baits catch big fish, anglers say.

Do the lures?

Sometimes.

But when the fish want big, you’ve got to have it.

Mann's Bait Company’s new Monster Reel ‘N Shad is big.

The 9-inch soft-plastic shad is a large version of the company’s Reel ‘N Shads introduced last year.

Not only is the Monster big.

It also features the patent-pending slot through the middle that the smaller versions do.

The slot gives the lure a unique action to imitate a swimming baitfish that’s irresistible to fish, the company says.

Two versions are available: One for freshwater that includes a weedless hook on a jighead, and one for saltwater with a non-weedless hook on a jighead.

The lure is available in a variety of colors.

Many different soft-plastic lures are introduced in a year.

This one’s notable because it’s unique but also because Mann’s Bait Company is a venerable, old company that anglers recognize.

Mann’s was begun in 1956 in the small town of Eufaula, Alabama.

Mann's is still located in Eufaula today, and has become one of the world’s leading fishing-tackle manufacturers, the company says.

No other company makes as many categories of lures, it says: hard baits, soft-plastic baits, saltwater trolling lures, jigs, spinner baits, tubes, creature baits, hollow-body frogs and plenty more.
