Ocean Kayak's Trident Series | ||||
You’ve seen fish crashing bait beyond casting range from the surf? Birds dive-bombing? Man. You’ve seen kayakers nail the fish, too, no? So how do you get in on this kayaking? Deciding on a kayak is one step. Or maybe you already have a kayak and are interested in a classic. Ocean Kayak’s Trident Series of kayaks has been a classic for fishing the coast. The company revamped the series and began shipping them recently. New features on the kayak, available in 11-, 13- and 15-foot lengths, include Active Comfort System 2.0 Seating, with a backrest that adjusts up and down and improved thigh support. Latest features also include a new Mod Pod, for storage between your legs, that’s slightly narrower for better thigh room and better room for stand-up fishing. What’s more, the Trident has endless rigging potential, the company says, with seven flush aluminum tracks to mount accessories like rod holders and electronics. Storage is maximum, the company adds, and includes: a large bow hatch with a 12-volt battery bag for electronics and accessories; a behind-the-seat well for a cooler or a livewell; and a new, additional rear hatch. The kayak also includes a redesigned paddle-keeper for paddle-stashing when fighting a fish, foot braces that are adjustable and can be used for rudder control with the purchase of a rudder kit, rod storage that protects rod tips, rubber carry handles that resist snagging, and more. Fish crashing, birds diving and some crazy kayaker who can reach them. |
