Seaguar Rippin' Monofilament | ||||
All the hubbub about new line is usually about braid. But there are plenty of times when anglers still fish monofilament. Top-water fishing is one. “There are certain presentations, like top-water, where I prefer the performance of monofilament altogether,” pro angler Chris Zaldain said. Seaguar is introducing Rippin’ Monofilament at stores this fall. The line is meant to be great for top-water -- ripping a lure across the surface -- but also for anytime mono is fished. Rippin’ Mono is a thin-diameter line meant to feature exceptional tensile and knot strength, and to be low-stretch for better hook-setting. Yet the line is also meant to be soft and supple. “This line is amazingly strong, thin and limp,” Zaldain, who's also a Seaguar pro-staffer, said. The line casts like a bullet, a press release said. Rippin’ Mono is available in 4- to 20-pound test in 200-yard spools, and the spools feature the company’s Level Wind Technology. That's a process that spools the line side-by-side, never criss-crossing. That prevents cross-contact dents and prevents line twist for maximum line strength. “Love this stuff!” Zaldain said.
