SoftScience's The Fin

Sometimes new footwear hits the market for boating like, whoa.

Crocs, for example, if you remember seeing them your first time.

The Fin, from SoftScience, a new shoe made for fishing and boating, might be like that.

One of the company’s two founders was also a founder and chief designer of Crocs.

The other is a former president and COO of Reebok.

The Fin is built for comfort and good looks and to be sturdy, fast-drying, slip-resistant and non-marking.

The insole, made from Trileon, a closed-cell foam, is part of the comfort.

The insole is built to “(offload) high pressure areas by effectively distributing weight-bearing to a broader surface of the feet,” the company says.

The insole and outsole create superb shock absorption, the company says.

The Fin, available in several colors, is made for a roomy, relaxed fit, but to provide a “stable platform,” and also features water drainage and a breathable, microfiber upper.

The shoe features a level angle from toe to heel to keep the foot level.

That’s natural and healthy and helps disperse body weight evenly on the foot sole, reducing pressure points, SoftScience says.

The founders set out to create footwear that “would take an uncompromising stand on comfort, but at the same time be stylish and fun,” the company says.

SoftScience also makes similar footwear, and more are in the works.

Whoa. The Fin makes you want to take a look.
