Mojo Bass Rod

Freshwater bass are arguably the most popular sportfish.

It’s fitting that many rods are made specifically for them.

St. Croix’s Mojo Bass Rod has become one of the most popular, and was redesigned this past year.

The company introduced the graphite rod in 2009 at the height of the Great Recession.

The rod was meant to offer “incredible value,” St. Croix says.

That must’ve panned out, because the launch was one of the most successful in the company’s 68 years, it says.

The new version provides even greater value, St. Croix says.

That’s because of the rod’s performance.

The new rod has been updated to feature St. Croix’s best blank, the high-modulus SCIII, and the company’s Integrated Poly Curve tooling or IPC.

IPC “aims to eliminate all transitional points in the rod blanks,” the company says, for smoother action and better strength and sensitivity.

This is all meant to make the rod more balanced, sensitive and durable.

The rod is lighter, too -- some of the models are 15-percent lighter.

The assortment of models was tweaked to match current trends in bass fishing, such as the addition of a 6-foot 8-inch spinning rod for wacky worms and a 7-foot 10-inch casting rod for Alabama rigs.

With a Black Cherry Metallic finish, the rod comes in 17 technique-specific models.

These Mojos retail for $120 to $140 and come with a 5-year warranty.

The company also makes Mojos for catfishing, musky fishing and fly fishing.
