Van Staal VR Series Reels | ||||
Van Staal’s latest reels, the VR Series, were introduced last summer at ICAST, the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades, and are beginning to arrive at stores now. The VR is designed to be lighter than the company’s previous reels to match lighter rods on the market today. The reel is meant for light surf fishing or inshore boat fishing in saltwater. The VR is also made to be less expensive than the company's previous reels. That’s because the VR isn’t overbuilt, like the company’s popular VSB reel, designed for more extreme fishing. But the VR remains exceptionally durable and reliable, qualities that Van Staal has become known for, the company says. Like the company’s previous reels, the VR is machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and features a waterproof body and a waterproof drag, all meant for durability and reliability. Van Staal’s machining and waterproofing are probably the company’s most known features. The VR will be available in four sizes: The reels weigh 15.8 ounces, 16 ounces, 16.5 ounces and 17 ounces, respectively. Each reel comes with a kit to convert the reel to bail-less. VR reels are meant to be able to break down quickly and easily, so the angler can service the reel conveniently on the angler’s own. For more details, visit the Van Staal website. |
