Portable Outboards

Yamaha’s portable outboards just seem to get lighter, stronger and smarter, the company says.

Some of the latest improvements range from a cleaner-running 2-1/2-horsepower to a more ergonomic tiller-handle on the 8-horespower.

Available in 2 1/2 to 20 horsepower, the outboards are nimble, lightweight and efficient, Yamaha says.

They're nimble including because they’re built to be easy to transport.

The smaller models include built-in handles.

But the outboards are also meant to perform nimbly.

That’s because of features like how the trim can be adjusted, to use the motor in different water depths, or how the outboards feature 180-degree steering, or how the tiller-handle is designed to be balanced and comfortable.

The portables are lightweight, like how the 2-1/2-horsepower is 37 pounds, and keep getting lighter over the years.

The 6-horsepower is 23 pounds lighter than previous versions, for instance.

The outboards are efficient including because they’re efficient on fuel.

One of the portables made the Guinness Book of World Records for most miles traveled on one gallon of gas, 67.27 miles, Yamaha says.

All the models also feature ultra-low emissions, now that the latest version of the 2-1/2-horsepower was redesigned for features including that.
