Flying Fisherman Sunglasses

Flying Fisherman has become known for quality, affordable sunglasses made for fishing.

The company—whose
focus is solely on building sunglasses for fishing,
and nothing else—set out
20 years ago to create sunglasses that filled a
gap in the market.

The choices for anglers back then were limited either to expensive,
high-end sunglasses or cheaper, poor-quality ones, nothing in between, the company says.

Flying Fisherman Sunglasses were born.

Flying Fisherman now produces more than 45 different styles ranging in prices from $16.95 to $129.95.

We tested several pairs and were impressed with the high quality, light weight and inexpensiveness.

All the company’s sunglasses are polarized, helping to cut down on glare from surfaces including water, sand, snow and pavement. That especially helps anglers see through the water surface, and has become a must for fishing. All the lenses provide maximum UV protection.

Lens Materials

The lenses are available in three materials:

Precision ground, polished glass that's heavier than plastic but superior in scratch resistance and optical clarity.

Polycarbonate that’s lightweight, shatterproof and virtually indestructible.

And Triacetate that’s lightweight and impact resistant.

Lens Tints

Lenses are offered in seven different tints:

Smoke: a gray tint for bright, sunny conditions, the most natural shade, doesn’t distort colors.

Amber
: a comfortable brown tint, excellent for shallow waters in both bright sun and overcast conditions, enhancing depth perception.

Yellow amber: great for flat or low-light conditions, like early mornings or late evenings, sharpening contrast and acuity.

Vermillion: a copper/rose tint for low-light conditions and muddy waters, favored for sight fishing, maximizing sharpness and color definition.

Green mirror
: an amber lens with a green mirror coating that reflects glare away from eyes, working well in both bright sun or low light.

Blue mirror: a smoke lens with blue mirror coating for extra glare reflection and stylish looks, best for bright sun.

Red/gold mirror
: a vermillion lens with golden red mirror coating for extra glare reflection and style, excellent for low-light conditions.
