“Producing Only Tournament Grade Tackle,
When Quality Counts.”

Tournament Grade Tackle, also known as TGT, has become increasingly popular, especially for the company’s bunker spoons.

The Linden, N.J., based company also makes rod riggers, swivel rod holders (click here for reviews of the spoons, riggers and holders) and wire line, and is developing new gear.

This is high-quality stuff, and quality is partly what the company is about. So far, TGT has also been known for “building a better mouse trap,” not necessarily inventing new products, but making products that work better than the rest.

Three different spreader bars for trolling--TGT Delta Bars, TGT Night Bars and TGT Spoon Spreaders--are the company’s latest creations.

Here’s a look at them.

TGT Delta Bars

Continuing the tradition of “building a better mouse trap,” TGT Delta Bars are spreaders for tuna fishing that are built to last longer, be higher quality and fish better.

They feature ten 9-inch soft-plastic squids, and a stinger squid that glows in the dark can also be ordered.

On the spreaders as many swivels, sleeves and crimps as possible were eliminated to better avoid corrosion and cracks to last longer and help avoid breakage and failure.

The rigging beads are made from glass, helping to avoid wear from hard-plastic beads against the soft-plastic squids.

The crimps that hold the in-line squids in place are made from nylon to help avoid nicking, pinching, cutting or wearing of the leader.

The "spring stainless steel" bars, tempered for springiness, are angled or swept back, meant to track well, helping to avoid tumbling and tangling. The center block is bullet shaped, built to dive in and out of the chop with ease. The combination of the swept back bars and the bullet block are also intended to slice through the waters for fewer false knockdowns.

TGT Night Bars

Built for tuna fishing at night or in low-light conditions, TGT Night Bars feature glowing squids to imitate the bioluminescent glow that a real squid emits.

They’re offered in spreader bars or daisy chains, and single squids are also available. They come in various colors, and light sticks emit the glow, lasting 8 hours or more.

The bars work best when trolled slowly at 4 to 4 ½ knots under the surface, wherever fish are marked. Or a single squid can be fished on anchor or while drifting, dropped down from an outrigger or paid back into the chum slick.

They can also be trolled during the day without the lightsticks.

TGT Spoon Spreaders

TGT Spoon Spreaders, made for fishing for striped bass and bluefish, are meant for anglers who want to match the hatch when smaller baitfish are schooling.

The Spoon Spreaders can also save money, because the spoons
hold up to fish bites
better than rubber
shads do, like on
umbrella rigs.

The bars come with two small winglet spoons fished from both ends of the bar and a large herring spoon that’s fished from the middle. A larger bunker spoon can also be used in the middle.
