Owner Boa Rigs

Original Boa Rig

Owner Hooks has devoted a decade to developing a line of high-quality, high-performance fish hooks for both fresh and saltwater anglers, the company says.

The company offers a comprehensive line of hooks and other products including lures that it feels are the best they can be.

A unique, triple-edge Cutting Point® hook design put Owner hooks and products on the map. The patented design features a needle-sharp point followed by three edges that cut for almost instant penetration. The edges actually decrease resistance, and Cutting Point hooks are the only hooks designed for such penetration, the company says.

Owner Hooks continues to develop new hooks and products, and the Boa Rig is one of them.

The Boa Rig is a two-hook rig for fishing with bait that features a “Secret Knot” that allows the distance between the two hooks to be adjusted to match the size of the bait. The lead hook can be slid down the leader by pulling downward on the Secret Knot from above. Or it can be slid up the leader by pushing upward on the Secret Knot from below. But the knot locks in place when the hook is pulled downward, allowing a firm hook-set.

The original Boa Rig (illustration above) features a top hook in sizes 1 through 6/0 and a bottom hook in sizes 1/0 through 7/0 with a 5-foot leader in 15- to 40-pound test. The bigger the hooks, the bigger the leader.

The Boa Glow Rig features
glow beads at the top of the hooks.

Two versions are offered: green beads with black hooks or red beads with red hooks.

Both versions come in two sizes. One includes a top hook in size 4 and a bottom hook in size 6 on a 6-pound, 6-inch leader. The other comes with a top hook in size 4 with a bottom hook in size 2 on a 10-pound, 6-inch leader.

The Boa Trap Rig comes with a single hook at the top followed by a treble, stinger hook for “trap-rigging” live or dead baits for fluke or other species to eliminate short strikes. One size comes with a size 2/0 single hook and a size 6 stinger hook on a 20-pound leader. A second size comes with a size 3/0 single hook and a size 4 stinger on a 25-pound leader. This rig also includes green glow beads at the top of black hooks.
